Biography
(*1935 Brünig, lives and works in Zürich) Haubensak attended the Ecole des Beaux–Arts in Geneva and the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel. In the 1970s he focused on centrally positioned rectangles, in the sense of Colour Field and Hard Edge painting, but combined the simple pictorial structure with a gestural brushstroke. After a brief engagement with landscape painting, in the late 1980s he returned to dividing the pictorial equally, now in four colour fields, with the two bright colours diagonal to the dark ones.
